Ecuador: Popular Resistance Against Noboa’s Narco-State
On September 11, two marches were held on the coast of Guayaquil. Daniel Noboa put on a grotesque spectacle, spending more than $5 million of public funds to organize the “peace and security” march and promote the popular consultation scheduled for November 30 of this year. The march was attended by blackmailed public officials, buses paid for, and white and American flags waving as a symbol of colonial submission.
Meanwhile, in Quito and other cities in the interior, Ecuador’s true face was emerging. Workers, indigenous people, students, and professionals marched together under a clear slogan: “Out with Noboa!” and against his austerity policies.
