yes in countries with good cycling routes such as Denmark and Netherlands, cycling is way better than driving for all short errands (up to 5 / 10 km depending upon your health, age, and rain).

I use my bicycles exclusively and I grew up in New York. However, I've managed to survive in a car dominated society but I do envy the Danes and the Dutch for their foresight in that context.
