Two years ago, Chase Oliver burst onto the Libertarian political scene by forcing a runoff in the Georgia Senate election—a result that ultimately determined the majority in the U.S. Senate.

Now he can aim to leave an even bigger mark.

Oliver won the Libertarian Party's presidential nomination in dramatic fashion Sunday night, prevailing on the seventh round of balloting after running second in each of the first five rounds. Oliver received 60.6 percent of the vote in the final round, finally clearing the 50 percent threshold for victory against "none of the above," the only alternative that remained on the ballot after Oliver narrowly won a sixth-round showdown with professor-turned-podcaster Michael Rectenwald, who had led the count in each of the first five rounds.

I just now, recently figured out that the libertarians have much in common with the Satanists, but I'm not one to judge, I just make observations. The Libertarians are going to need some congressional representation, won't they? How come, they never manage to secure a full bench, whenever the game starts? Also, is that one of those dual purpose, rainbow flags?

I've voted Libertarian in every Presidential election I've ever voted in. That is unlikely to change this year. I'm certainly not voting for Biden or Trump.

I'm not sure I want to know, but I'll bite. What do you think Libertarians have in common with Satanists? Personally, I'm an atheist, so I'm practically a Satanist in some people's eyes.

How come they never manage to secure a full bench? Well, R's and D's never actually secure a full bench, either. Check out the number of uncontested races. They don't even have the ballot access laws stacked against them like 3rd parties do, so what is their excuse?

I think this article was the first time I've seen that flag, so I don't know anything about it beyond the obvious fact that it is a combination of a rainbow flag and a Gadsden flag.

I don't recall seeing the pride version of Gadsden. Satanists? I'm mostly Libertarian but I'ved in places where anyone can pretty much do what they want, and it's not pretty. FDA, EPA, good public schools, etc. make life better for even the wealthy folks.

@Waitman Gobble @Marshall Sutherland That's peculiar, I've often found the Gadsden to be a plain yellow field background and a snake with a message. I'm sure that libertarians have no need to virtue signal with the rainbow crowd, I was just merely curious. Regarding Satanists however, they seem to have those very same notions of anyone can pretty much do as the wish, especially when trivial concerns such as God and religions try to present any obstacles.

Like Libertarians, Satanists seem to be fine with drug use, drug abuse, homosexuality, bestiality, transgenderism and atheism. The things that just so manage to destroy societies, as we're witnessing now. Oh, they may say as long as the children aren't involved, but we all know that they're just lying. Very soon we'll soon see the Libertarians, arm in arm with their Satanist pals telling the whole world, why pedophilia is normal and good for children and both groups, the Satanists and the Libertarians, will repeat their usual trope, that as long as it's not hurting anyone, or that it's behind closed doors or that it's consenting, then it's just fine and alright.

I'm not done yet, I have a host of other examples, but I think that these few, may be sufficient, for the time being.

@Marshall Sutherland well that settles that observation, I like his holster and its accompanying revolver, but tell me, why is his left hand trying to slip in his pocket? I find it very hard to take any person seriously, who insists on sticking his or her hands in their pockets, unless they're reaching for some article that's stored there.

He has a beer gut, his uniform is untidy, unpressed and his shoes are white and dirty.  He seems to have the attitude, that he's wasting his time, or that indeed, someone else, may be wasting his time. He doesn't seem ready for primetime at all. He's also slouching, flabby and arguably looks like a weak man. He is a domesticated pet, that has been released into the untamed wilds. One wonders, just how long such a creature, will survive.

You know what else libertarians have in common with Satanists? They both seem to be on the side of killing unborn children. As long as nobody gets hurt right? As long as it's behind closed doors, morals and morality, are irrelevant.

Now, I'm sure one could say, that the Uniparty is just as culpable as the Libertarians and that would be true too.  How many parties have to be involved, for the product, to be still labeled as a Uniparty? One is reliably sure that there is no set rule, that only two are needed to qualify. It's reasonable to presume, that at least two are needed to play.

I missed this bit, forgive me for that. I think that I may be in the same lifeboat as you are, at the moment. However, I fail to see, how one person, running on the Libertarian Party ticket, with no others running, to back him up, in the federal, state, county and municipal, levels of the legislature, is going to be a catalyst, of any effective change, in the context, of our stated predicament, even if he miraculously won the election.

@Waitman Gobble Also, I think that we could all do away with the EPA, DEA, FBI, FDA, ATF and a host of other parasitic, alphabet, agencies. It is a wonder that the people who eventually founded the United States, ever survived those centuries, before 1776, without them. I think that, if ever there were a politician, that would eliminate those entities, no matter what his stripe, I'd vote for him, if he indeed, could do what he claimed and or promised.

Well it's the simple things. Can end up with a nation of uneducated bafoons causing havoc. If you want the streets fixed you have to do it yourself. Your neighbor decides to start a "mechanic shop" on your street and has 20 junked cars lined up on both sides of the street he uses for parts. The metal plating company decides to dump all its waste chemicals in the river. A large meat processing plant has a machine malfunction and ships out meat all over the country with metal filings, there's no mention and no recall. And of course they aren't going to recall all that meat. There's no parking when you go shopping because parking lots are a waste of money. Your neighbors decide to turn their homes into 4 story apartment buildings by adding more floors on top but the streets are already lined up with cars. This causes your electricity to go off much of the time becsuse it wasn't designed to have all those people suddenly start using it. When a major hurricane hits the people will just have to hope Europe or Canada sends assistance. If you want to ship a package you're going to have to go to the bus station or airport and ship it.

I get it though, people are in their cozy houses in nice quiet neighborhoods and feel like everything is not needed and a waste, but i think often not realized how the cozy neighborhood happened to exist.

The first thing I notice returning to the US is it's much calmer to drive, people obey basic rules and it's more predictable. It's stressful to drive in a place with no rules.

But on a larger scale i'm for open borders, free trade, i think people should be able to travel from one place to another freely,. Don't beleive in protectionism through tarriffs.

But it's tricky, for example if AT&T had never been broken up, there would be no internet as we know it. They (rightfully) owned all the POTS copper wire in the US, and all the central offices, They were perfectly happy with people paying alot for their "land lines" and long distance and all that. AT&T invested in wireless technology in China, which had little copper, They were about a decade ahead of the US in wireless, in the 1990's.

So there's a tradeoff.

Also like stock market, despite the annoyances, without the SEC there would be no publicly traded stocks. No 401(k) etc. Only family members and close friends would consider investing in a company if there are no rules.

@Waitman Gobble yes many Americans are afraid to rock the boat because they don't wish to upset the apple cart, gravy train. Therefore, they'll tolerate the destruction of their society, let the government walk all over their faces and leave their progeny bankrupt and in debt. All to keep their caloric content, eating the table scraps, from their masters and living the status quo.

They don't have the will to do anything but comply in order to get their Mac Mansions, their inflated 401(k)'s and again, their generous, caloric, dense, table scraps. People like that can keep on voting for whomever they choose, however, many people are coming to the conclusion, that we aren't voting our way out of this excrement storm.

That's a point, first thing you notice when you land in US airport are all the fat people. Clothes are bigger too. An XL in US sizes is like 3XL in other countries. It's hard to find clothes that fit outside the US. I have lost much weight this year, though.

@Waitman Gobble Indeed,  many US residents, eat too much and more importantly, they also eat, too much of all the wrong foods too. They're sedentary and hate pain and discomfort. Their lives are very comfortable. It happens, but it doesn't have to be the norm.

However, I'm convinced that many people will always seek what they perceive, as being easier and they will always resort to comfort and soft living, much to their detriment.  It would be a good idea for many of them to push themselves and move outside of their comfort zones but only few will ever do so.

It may be a good thing for evolution though, as those who push themselves, can have natural selection moments and hopefully, reproduce with like minded mates, while the fat, lazy, comfortable people,  who are always on quests for pleasure, get bred out.  That's assuming, that the laws that govern nature, still even give a crap about modern, idiotic, human behavior, any longer.  That's it from me for now, I should go to sleep. I hate the endless wars too, I hate the big brother surveillance state, I hate the wasteful spending by Congress and all the entitlements. I'm under no delusions that Oliver will win the Presidential race (In state and local races, I'm sure there will be Libertarian winners, just as there have been for years). I'm also under no delusions that I can change which of the lesser of 2 evils will actually win by wasting my vote on one of them (assuming I could decide which was the lesser).

Politicians pay attention to polls and voting results. My vote is a message. If I vote for the lesser of two evils, that looks just like a vote cast in full support of that candidate. That isn't the message I want to send. I want to send the message "I do not consent!" If there isn't a Libertarian Party candidate, I'll vote for a Green Party candidate. I've voted for random write-in candidates that I never heard of before. I don't expect them to win. I only expect my vote to be counted.

@Marshall Sutherland I have understood your position, since the first time you mentioned it. Indeed, I've even adapted some of your methods, albeit grudgingly. To the point that my new, favorite motto is, there is no voting our way out of this.

Anyhow I thought it was a good discussion and ever since you posted your article, his name has been coming up in all sorts of places, or maybe, I'm just starting to pay attention to the mentions. @Waitman Gobble Indeed, one hardly have to travel overseas to enjoy such a discount. One merely has to venture into any city in the United States to breathe all that in. However, I suspect that anyone who fancies diversity, would perhaps, feel right at home in Haitian quarters. I for one, do not.

Anarchy as is freedom, seems to be quite, portable and one may take them anywhere. Although it seems your argument may be that anarchy can be purchased, at a bargain. In that case, when one item may be substituted, for another, why pay an inflated price?

Although i have read that supposedly 200 US Marines could straighten everything out there. But I don't know if any US Corporations see any value of using resources there, so it's not happening. The intelligence quotient of the entire society, eventually descends, to the level of the lowest, common, denominator. Indeed, it may seem purely semantic, but it behooves one to equate preferring a thing, to wanting it.

I've already pointed out, that any city in the US, will give one an abundance of anarchy. Perhaps, your obsession with Haiti, may be that, in any US city, one may find that the purveyors of said anarchy, may or may not be of the same race as Haitians. I think maybe "IQ tests" are typically "proctored" by an authoritarian school system and integrated in "standardized" tests and possibly have more meaning to the DOD than anyone else.

Anyone can choose to ignore the rules, but the rules still exist, as well as the people who make them and those who enforce them. This could be a much more expensive endeavor to manifest compared to places where there are no rules and no one to enforce them.

As for me, the anarchy I might prefer is very different from what most imagine of anarchy. It requires the gradual receding of government institutions in favor of private institutions, not the plunging of society into chaos. Talking of anarchy is a moot point for me as it isn't the sort of transition that could be completed successfully in my lifetime. Any plunging into chaos during my lifetime is going to be caused by the big government folks causing wars or crashed economies.

It seems that the wheels of order and rules are intent on bringing endless wars and perhaps, even wars to end all wars, although that end, may indeed, bring ends of irony. That is the war to end all ways may do so, but still bring no peace.

The point is, there are always opportunities to be found in the wreckage, of unintended consequences. In many ways, one can find more freedom, more order in the eye of the storm of anarchy. I prefer order and tidiness, myself. However, rules these days are made for the ones who are compliant. The ones who assume to rule, may choose to abide by them. One does not often have the luxury of having every detail in order and being tidy, except in ones own process of thoughts. Having one's mind, so arranged.

The rules that so many have used for guides is steadily leading the entire world into another pointless war and this time it could be even more catastrophic. However, even in such terror there is indeed the opportunity for freedom from endless wars, endless debt, endless government oversteps and endless power grabs.
