Trump's Tariffs Should Target All US Imports, Not Just China's.I happen to disagree with, the neocon, Gordon Chang's assessment, in this, featured, article. Tariffs on only Chinese imports, would be a stupid move, that is why, I expect Trump, will follow through, with that boneheaded plan and his supporters will seal clap, like the US Congress, seal clapping, for a Zionist terrorist. Far more good would be done, Indeed, far more revenues would be collected, if the proposed tariffs, were implemented, on all US imports, globally. That way, there would be no goodwill lost, in Chinese markets and the Chinese won't feel, uniquely, singled out, for it.Furthermore, there is one more reason why U.S. consumers will not suffer. High American tariffs will encourage factories to move out of China. When they do, any pressure on consumer prices will disappear.
That may be true, but that does not guarantee, that any firms will move back to the United States, either. Gordon Chang is just another warmongering, China hater. If Trump must have tariffs, let him put tariffs on all US imports then, instead, of targeting, just one exporter. That would seem to be a much better strategy. This is a contest that the United States cannot lose. In short, trade-surplus countries, such as China, cannot prevail over trade-deficit ones, such as America. Last year, America's merchandise trade deficit with China was $279.4 billion. That is why, ultimately, China will have to pay the cost of tariffs that Trump — or any other American leader — may impose. Clearly, China's regime knows this. People's Daily, the Communist Party's self-described mouthpiece and therefore the most authoritative publication in China, this month is arguing that America should not raise tariffs.
