Immigration is not an effective solution to population decline, as its champions claim.Contemporary mass migration does little to slow population ageing, worsens government finances, lowers living standards, has at best ambiguous effects on national power and threatens personal and ethnic continuity.Additionally, mass immigration leads to social and cultural issues, such as decreased fertility rates and increased social unrest. Immigration is a bigger threat to ethnic continuity than low fertility, as it can lead to the disappearance of genetically distinct groups through intermixing.
