Yes, unfortunate name they chose...

There was a browser called Impervious and Beacon that did peer to peer transfers and much more, but they have since gone stale with no activity for a couple years now. There is another one called Masq Browser that also has an extension addon for chrome browsers with peer to peer file sharing capability.

I prefer my Teaspeak Server for voice over IP, file sharing and music bots...

@Rogue Runner Well there's the rub, since the Chrome browser engine is becoming a monopoly these days. All the forks for that particular browser will shift whenever, Google decides that they should. Firefox is on its last straw and soon we may all have to bow to the Google Monopoly. There are a few projects in the pipeline but it may soon become gloomy.

@Rogue Runner You're right of course. Do you know that I mainly consume content from the websites which I myself host? Obviously, most of my news is syndicated via RSS but I spend most of my time reading, participating and interacting, with my own servers. My servers may run decentralized software but it would seem that my attention is centralized. I need to ponder that in detail I think.

Wise words for everyone to ponder... getting stuck in the news cycle and the narrative of the algorithm is the Platos Cave of modern times. There is something inherently wrong with the term Influencer, or Content Creator... it is just rife for a takeover of the propaganda machinery.

@Rogue Runner Indeed, remember this? Yes I agree with you. When I first started I had wished that my servers would give me a voice in this wilderness. I had no idea that I would spend more time using my own websites.

It's a gratifying realization really. One where I get to entertain, inform and have fun on the servers which I employ. All of them self hosted. Obviously, I have the fedeverse, XMPP and IRC and they're decentralized, self hosted and I'm satisfied with them.

I have my blogs, my video feeds, Nextcloud, Owncloud, and a host of services which I run and they're not going to waste. Also, my websites are the only ones where I allow JavaScript to be used. It's a wonderful thing. I get to be in charge of my own programming and I love it.
